Moulin Bastide du Laval

A la Découverte de l'Or Vert

Olive Grower in the South of Luberon since 1998, Producer of an award-winning olive oil, Carine and Roland Coupat opened their own mill in 2014.

Located in the heart of the regional national park and on the scenic route of the Châteaux of the South Luberon, between Lourmarin and Cucuron, Bastide du Laval Olive Oil Mill provides visitors with a unique opportunity to discover the landscape and traditions of Provence.

The stunning views of the Luberon, the vineyards and the 19th century country house will transport you to the heart of the Provençal landscape of Giono.

Far more than a simple olive oil mill, Bastide du Laval is keen to develop a friendly and educational approach to the fascinating world of olive trees, olive oil, wine and, of course, Provence.

The olive oils produced at the mill as well as the wines from the domain itself are sold in the boutique, along with a selection of local products.

The estate of 30 hectares is located in the heart of the famous Luberon, and the olive grove is composed of 4000 trees spread over 15 hectares of land. Bastide du Laval is certified AOC Provence (PDO : Protected designation of origin) and Organic agriculture. The harvest is done by hands with some rakes and nets. The olives are brought from the groves for pressing,  the” trituration” in French, which is the process of cold extraction of the oil in order to keep all the aromas.

All efforts upon the quality of the harvest and the production are done in order to produce the best olive oil. And it works because Bastide du Laval’s olive oil  have been rewarded several times.

2018 was a great Year ! 14 rewards accross national and international contests, including 8 gold medals. During the National Competition of the AOC olive oil Bastide du laval has been rewarded with a gold medal for its AOC Provence olive oil.

This specific green fruity olive oil honors the locals varities of olive trees which are the Aglandau, the Salonenque, the Cayon, the Bouteillan and then the Picholine as a second variety.

Our oils have been chosen by the renown chef Guillaume Gomez, from l’Elysée, and  also by famous starred chef like Michel Troisgros…
